I Googled Japan and Created This
I Googled Japan and Created This is an experimental journey through Japan — a collection of unexpected stories, moments, and impressions. It’s not a guidebook, but an evolving inventory of the strange, the surprising, and the wonderfully bizarre things we encountered along the way.
Inspired by the disorienting, exhilarating feeling of arriving in a new country — where everything is unfamiliar and just a little outside your comfort zone — this book embraces curiosity over certainty. It’s made up of 19 independent chapters that weave together essays, columns, interviews, personal reflections, and visual fragments. The structure is intentionally fluid, breaking away from traditional storytelling.

We don’t claim to know the “real” Japan, nor do we have a specific goal. What we do have is an open mind, a sense of wonder, and a willingness to learn. And through this journey, we invite our readers to do the same.
Let’s wonder more.
Chapter One: The Eggs
From the iconic raw egg over rice to automated egg vending machines — and unexpected encounters with bears — this chapter explores the cultural and culinary significance of eggs in Japan.
Chapter Two: A Trip To…
From encounters with unusual wildlife and cultural extremes in etiquette to a towering crab claw sculpture in northern Japan, this chapter explores the curious intersections of nature, and local expression.
To disrupt the flow of our 19 independent chapters, we intentionally break them— sometimes mid-sentence—and insert a completely unrelated topic. These unexpected interruptions occur four times throughout the book, adding a layer of disorientation and surprise to the reading experience:
