The installation *Great again* has three pieces.
The main piece is a screen showing an immersive experience where Nostalgia herself is talking to you. Through buttons you can navigate through the experience and use them to interact with the story and with questions Nostalgia asks you.
The second piece, the ‘Nostalgic Altar’ is an interactive poster, which you can continuously turn and read political slogans that appear between the lines.
The third and last piece ‘Make again’ enables people to have a active output. And leave something behind.
The screen.
The content shown on the screen are snippets from my research put into a storyline where Nostalgia is explaining how she is turned from memory to manipulative tool by the far right.
And what consequences this has.
The nostalgic Altar.
The nostalgic Altar is a piece where I played with the metaphoric of the continuous motion of turning the roll. As you turn, political slogans start to appear you move through different periods in times and countries, but the words they use stay the same.
Make — again.
In this part of the exhibit people were able to have an active output: It was about taking the symbolic out of the words Make — Great again.
