It doesn’t get wet.

It doesn’t stain.

It doesn’t get in the way.

What it does.

Zain was born with the purpose of improving the well-being of the hospitalized patient at an unpleasant time, offering an improved replacement of the current dressings and bandages that serve to fix the catheter and best isolate the puncture point from the outside.

Context.

Many visits to the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona were a significant source of inspiration for us. We identified crucial touchpoints that were key in defining our project. By interviewing nurses and hospitalized patients, we observed that the current catheter and dressing used lack adequate comfort for the patient. We identified a significant opportunity to improve the user experience in this area.

How it works.

The product has two parts. The main piece replaces traditional dressings by covering and securing the catheter, protecting the puncture site, and reducing waste with its durable, adhesive design. Made from silicone, it stays clean, reducing infection risk and allowing patients to shower without replacement.

The second piece secures and guides the IV tube with a 360° rotating mechanism, preventing snagging and accommodating patient movements.

Healthcare professionals benefit from easier application and adjustment, saving time and reducing workload. Customization options include hospital logos for better equipment management, and a children’s version with colorful designs makes hospital stays more comfortable for young patients.

What makes it different?

Zain differs from existing market solutions in several key ways. It features a two-piece design where the main piece replaces traditional dressings, offering improved protection for the puncture site and better securing the catheter to prevent movement. Its sustainable design uses durable materials and adhesive that extend the product’s life, reducing the frequency of replacements and minimizing waste. “One patient, one dressing”. The solutions that exist nowadays as catheter dressings are rudimentary and do not take into account patient comfort.
