We not only aim to expand Marset’s catalog, but we also want to revolutionize the way spaces are illuminated and how they interact with users.
The investigation.
User Insights.
The in-person work mode is more motivating but reduces productivity. The teleworking mode results in lower motivation but higher productivity. It is essential to maintain offices as attractive spaces to ensure that commuting to them is a motivation for the worker.
Market Insights.
There are almost no proposals that play with the ceiling-desk duality. A reference is the Shade lamp by Flos, which was discontinued. Nevertheless, there are proposals that seek to create a sense of surprise through optical and lighting effects.
Workspaces Insights.
Workspaces are gradually diversifying with new configurations to adapt to the needs of workers. The lighting of a space directly affects people’s motivation and productivity, so companies like LinkedIn and Adobe modify their offices to experiment and find the best configurations.
The Concept.
The design of the totem is inspired by the light reflection effect that occurs between the sun and the moon, while also playing with the geometries in the shapes of celestial bodies found within it.
The Value Proposition.
A luminaire composed of two elements, one emissive, within the user’s reach, and the other reflective, located on the ceiling, allowing for the illumination of the space and the work surface, the creation of a personalized atmosphere, and an easy interaction with the light.
The Totem Lamp.
What does it mean for something to be iconic? Shape, functionality, innovation…? All these questions arose from the desire to create a lamp that breaks the mold and brings the future into the present.
The Totem lamp stands out for its unique mode of use. Thanks to the reflector panel suspended above it, it allows a focused beam of light to be redirected to the workspace without the need for electrical installation in the ceiling.
Both its concept and form are inspired by the sun and the moon, and how they create a play of light emission and reflection between them. The Totem is enigmatic, elegant, and iconic, representing not only the future but also a new way of understanding lighting, bringing ambient light sources down to the table.
The formalization.
Tubular structure of blown glass and spheres of aluminum and polycarbonate on a polypropylene and steel base.
