Bootlegging Chelsea Girls
Inspired by the concept of bootlegging, this project takes Andy Warhol’s Chelsea Girls poster as a starting point to create an object with a double life. Duality is a recurring theme throughout the film, evident in its split-screen format, where two reels are projected side by side, and in its exploration of contrasting personalities.
The characters embody a dual existence, challenging traditional notions of masculinity and femininity. This tapestry/skirt is conceived as a perfect dual object, intertwining functionality and symbolism, and telling a story through the skirt—a timeless emblem of emancipation.
