I am Maithili Sathe, an architect and artist from India. I have my studio and practice based in Mumbai and worked on a variety of projects including architecture, interior design, furniture design, murals and storyboards. I decided to pursue Master in Design for Emergent Futures, to discover research areas that encourage sensitive social design. I am now exploring the intersection of craft, place, and memory, often through slow, hands-on processes that reconnect making with meaning. I’m interested in how design can become a tool for storytelling, care, and cultural continuity, challenging the disposability and detachment of contemporary production. I am building a practice that collaborates with artisans, local communities, and conservation efforts to explore place-based approaches to making, where design is shaped by context, and led by relationships rather than trends.
