The Master in Design for Responsible AI is a part-time and low-residency programme, created in collaboration with the creative research lab IAM at the intersection of artificial intelligence systems, critical design and the climate emergency.
During 9 months, participants develop skills in creative research, context analysis, critical thinking and storytelling, and strategic decision-making while investigating the multiple ways in which AI systems are impacting our daily lives from a socio-technical, ecological and cultural perspectives.
For their final projects, the cohort developed early proposals of critical design tools, driven by diverse creative research approaches, including video essays, toolkits, alternative datasets and speculative DIY manuals, to address issues as racism, extractivism or discrimination, helping citizens, tech workers and companies to demystify artificial intelligence and use its application mindfully in the pressing context of the climate emergency.
This program is designed as a creative research collaboratory with a strong focus on collaborative and transdisciplinary learning offering participants a unique context to develop skills in investigating and analysing complex topics while specialising on the design and implementation of strategies, narratives, decision-making techniques and methodologies for responsible AI systems to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.
